It’s nearly May, the days are warming up and it’s one of the best times of the year to visit some of our glorious English gardens bursting with Spring colour. Cosy country pubs with rooms in sleepy villages and charming small towns make the ideal base for exploring the beautiful British countryside and our treasured gardens. The Bell Inn, Ticehurst, East Sussex

Be wowed by the eclectic décor, the quirky bedrooms and the hearty seasonal food at this 16th-century bolthole in a thriving Sussex village – book one of the amazing garden lodges. Famous Sissinghurst Castle Gardens is worth the short drive, as are the exciting and colourful gardens surrounding historic Great Dixter, or visit Ticehurst’s stunning Pashley Manor Gardens, noted for its tulip and rose festivals.
